Alaska & Yukon Semester

Our semester program combines a series of leadership and guide training programs in the world-class terrain of Alaska. Instructors bring practical guiding experience to the challenging environment of the Alaska classroom. There is no better place to develop technical skills and leadership experience.

Frequent Questions

Can I create a Custom Semester?
- Yes, you can create a custom semester based on any available dates and courses we offer.

If there is a break or gap in my program am I responsible for room and board?
- If there is a gap in your program you are responsible for lodging and food between courses. In Haines, where our Alaska and Yukon semesters are based, there are many options for Lodging in Haines from hotels to inexpensive camping options. There are several grocers and restaurants in Haines.

Is there a financial benefit to a semester program?
- As a semester student you receive a 5% discount on the cost of the program relative to the cost of a single course.

What is the cost of a deposit for a semester program?
- It takes $750.00 to reserve your spot on a semester. We will invoice you for the balance one this is paid.

Can I combine international and domestic courses?
- Yes. It is possible to combine courses from multiple locations. You would be responsible for all transport between course venues. It is $1,500 deposit for all semesters with an international component.

What is included in the semester price:

  • Food & Lodging during the course - We will provide a comfortable house and all meals during the course.
  • Transportation during trip - Travel to helicopters and roadside ski access.
  • Professional instructors - Our instructors and guides have extensive knowledge of the area, and a passion for skiing in wild places.

Students are responsible for the following:

  • Personal clothing & Equipment - Review the equipment list included under "Documents."
  • Food & Lodging outside of the course - Students are responsible for food and lodging before and after the course.
  • Travel insurance - We highly recommend travel insurance for all of our programs.
  • Airfare - Review the "Travel Information" under "Documents" for more details.
  • Reviewing course policies - Please reference our policies page for policies regarding payment, cancellations, refunds and student responsibilities.
  • Gratuities.

  • Please call to confirm availability at 1-800-766-3396 or fill out an online form to request more information:
  • Place a $750 deposit to reserve your spot ($1,500 for an international program): this can be place over the phone by credit card, check in the mail, or online (contact us for payment details)
  • Once you've reserved your spot, you'll receive a welcome packet with all the necessary registration forms and trip information.
  • Be sure to submit all trip registration documents at least 45 days prior to your course. This includes information on your arrival/departure, lodging, dietary, and medical information.
